and an engineer.

Toby came out of a simple observation: running a trade business from a workshop is a lot harder than running one from a desk. So we built the tool we wished existed.

Joe

Furniture maker

Joe makes fitted furniture — wardrobes, kitchens, alcoves.

The making is the part he’s good at. The hard part is keeping on top of customers and projects while he’s in the workshop or out on site. Quotes to send, people waiting to hear back, jobs at different stages — most of it carried around in his head.

He’s rarely at a desk, so the usual way of staying organised never really worked for him.

Chloe

Software engineer

Chloe builds software for a living. She’s at a desk all day.

Because of that, the problems Joe runs into don’t come up in her world — when everything’s in front of you on a screen, it’s easy to stay on top of. She could see how different it is when your hands are full and your office is a van.

The tools she used to keep organised didn’t fit how Joe works. So she built one that does.

Why "Toby"?

Toby’s the dog. We wanted the app to feel like a dependable one: it keeps an eye on things so you don’t have to hold it all in your head.

How we think about it

The tool should fit the work, not the other way round. If you’re on site or in the workshop, you shouldn’t have to stop and type things into boxes. You should be able to say it, and have it handled.

And your data is yours. Toby keeps a record of your work and hands it back when you need it. You can export it or delete it whenever you like.
